EXCLUSIVE: We’ll be seeing more of Wyatt in the upcoming season of 9-1-1: Lone Star. Jackson Pace, who has recurred as the character since Season 3, has been promoted to series regular for Season 5.
Pace has appeared in nine episodes of the series through its most recent Season 4 and will appear in all episodes of Season 5, which premieres Monday, September 23 on Fox.
Pace’s promotion follows the exit of Sierra McClain, who, Deadline learned, had quietly left the series following some cast renegotiation drama, and amid rampant speculation that Season 5 will be the show’s final chapter.
Pace’s Wyatt was introduced in Season 3 when he arrived at Austin’s 126 firehouse to meet firefighter Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack) to tell him he was his son (as the result of a relationship years earlier) and although wildly different, he eventually bonded with his new-found father and his family (wife Grace and their daughter Charlie). After graduating from high school Wyatt surprised Judd by announcing he dropped out of college to become a firefighter and that he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby. However, tragedy strikes when Wyatt was hit by a truck while riding his bike and although Wyatt survived the accident, his serious injuries left him partially paralyzed and likely never would be able to walk again. This prompted Judd to quit his job at the 126 firehouse and have Wyatt come live with his family to provide homecare for him. As the new season starts, Wyatt must forge a new path in the world post-accident which will lead him to be connected to the 126.
9-1-1: Lone Star follows members of Austin’s 126 Fire Department led by Captain Owen Strand (Lowe) who, along with his adult son, T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein), moved to Texas to help rebuild the firehouse which had experienced a tragedy of its own. His team of diverse and qualified first responders include widowed Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres), Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack), who was the sole survivor of Austin’s original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy; Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam), an adrenaline junkie and badass firefighter who also is a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), a transgender male firefighter, who bravely decided to transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works). Settling into his new home, T.K. caught the eye of police officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva) and the two began a romantic relationship, eventually marrying in the Season 4 finale. T.K hung up his firefighter helmet to become a full-time paramedic under Tommy’s guidance and works closely with fellow paramedic Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker).
