David Boreanaz on SEAL Team Finale’s Final Scene: You’ll Be ‘Very Surprised’ With What Happens After the Season 4 Premiere
The interim finale of SEAL Team Season 3 sees Bravo brave some dangerous situations while operating without a leader, then closes with an encounter that is expected to have a surprising outcome .

The first segment of Wednesday night’s episode saw Jason play Mandy’s admittedly overqualified security detail as she makes a condolence call to the widow of local salesman, Samin, who was an informant – and was murdered because of said alliance. “I think Jason has to take care of what he needs to take care of,” series head David Boreanaz told TVLine about Bravo 1’s decision to escort Mandy into town. “We both hinted that they were somewhat involved in the past and even though we don’t know what actually happened, they just had this strong connection.”
That said, Jason is disappointed to discover, upon returning to camp, that Ray has been sent with the rest of the team to carry out a time-sensitive operation that could help them know obtain the position of new HVT Asim al-Hazred. “He was nervous when he found out they were still out there,” Boreanaz said of Jason’s initial reaction. “He wanted to try to control that and get back out there [to help], but he couldn’t.”

Luckily, Ray, Sonny (who fancied himself a bomb disposal man), Clay and co were eventually able to get close enough to their target for Davis to track the courier’s future movements. , which promised to lead them to al-Hazred. And while seeing the team succeed under Ray may have led Jason to believe, as Lindell wanted him to, that Bravo could do just fine without him—and could bring him in. Mortality is accepted — instead, we see Jason celebrating everything they have overcome and accomplished.

That warm group of huzzahs, Boreanaz said, illustrates that Jason “is a faithful man and that’s what he likes to do. You can’t force him to sit behind a desk, you can’t force him to be in charge of something he doesn’t want to do. He’s a pure instinctive guy and he loves being with his brothers on the field, leading them. That’s his MO, and we’ll find out how that plays out, especially [Episode] 22” — aka the planned season finale that hasn’t finished filming yet at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has shut down the entertainment industry.

End of Bravo Team’s close call… learning that Clay is going to STA-21, and hearing Ray talk about how he could never be Bravo 1… and along with the not-so-warm welcome Mandy receives obtained from Samin’s widow, the ersatz finale ends with Jason knocking on Mandy’s trailer door. Without saying a word (other than Mandy’s “Are you okay?”) and after three full seasons, the two turn toward each other and pull each other into a hot, hungry embrace.

“Like I said, they have a connection and understand each other,” Boreanaz said of the relationship. “Both operate in a world that is focused solely on achieving what they need to accomplish, and where the likelihood of that happening is extremely high. There’s always a bullet for someone.”

And what does “the morning after” look like for like-minded colleagues…. “I think people will be very surprised by what might happen in the next episode,” suggests Boreanaz, who was directing Episode 21 when production shut down. “I’ll tease that.”

SEAL Team viewers can rest assured they will get answers, about the above and more, now that the CBS drama has been renewed for Season 4.
