SWAT season 5: Luca to overtake Deacon for promotion in surprise new fan theory | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV | Express.co.ukSeason four of the CBS procedural drama had a shocking ending when it was revealed that Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (Shemar Moore) had been demoted. S.W.A.T fans are still wondering which of the cops will replace him, and some have come up with some interesting theories about the upcoming season.
S.W.A.T first aired in 2017, Hondo began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department as the Senior Commanding Officer on Sergeant Buck Spivey’s (Louis Ferreira) SWAT Team.
Hondo worked in the community where he grew up and knew the locals by name.
Because of this, the locals respect him and are often willing to provide him with information needed for a case.
Hondo is also highly appreciated by his colleagues and superiors for his sharp intuition.
He became a highly regarded employee at the Los Angeles Police Department.
Hondo is suddenly promoted to S.W.A.T Sergeant after Deacon is fired for accidentally shooting and killing an unarmed black teenager during a gunfight.
As a newly promoted leader, he strongly encouraged his team to rely on communication and respect instead of excessive force and aggression.
However, his loyalty to the streets that raised him came into conflict with his duties as an officer.
Regardless, Hondo faces protests in season four due to his actions.
During the finale, Hondo spoke to the press and exposed the LAPD’s racism, he also revealed intentional errors in the internal investigation.
After he revealed this, it resulted in a group of anti-police extremists planting a bomb inside the LAPD’s main office.
One of the bombers identifies himself as Kevin Hillard (W. Tre Davis) and even the arrest of racist police cannot stop him.
