S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore is celebrating with his co-stars and fans after CBS listened to their pleas and reversed its initial cancellation. After axing the series, CBS changed its mind and decided to renew S.W.A.T. for a seventh and final season.

Moore shared the great news on social media, writing, “Ayyeee!!!!! We did it #SWATFAM!!! @swatcbs is coming back for a 7th and Final season with 13 Episodes!!! Thank you to all of you for the continued and amazing support!! Let’s go 👊🏽💯🔥💪🏽.”

Only a few hours later, Moore teamed up with David Lim, who also stars in S.W.A.T., to film a video thanking fans directly.

Moore said, “Let me tell you something. Thank you, thank you. We busted our asses six years making this show S.W.A.T…They canceled us on Friday. They renewed us today, Monday. Three days later. You know why? Because of y’all!”

“To the fans, because you showed us love. You made noise, and we so respect it, and we so appreciate it. All we wanna do is do it right. If we’re gonna go out, we’re gonna go out the right way. And we’re gonna go out for you…Because without you, there’s no us,” he went on.

The actor added in the caption, “Get ready for one hell of a send off SEASON 7!!!! Let’s GO!!!!! 👊🏽👊🏼🔥🔥.”

While fans are ecstatic at the news that there will be a seventh season of S.W.A.T., they aren’t ready to say goodbye, and many hope that the show will be able to continue after season seven somehow.

“Soo happy its going to to season 7. I hope it will continue even longer. Dont give up. Its a fabulous show,” wrote one fan.

Another said, “No not just season 7. 8, 9, 10. Let’s go.”

In CBS’s statement announcing the renewal, the network said, “We have listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for S.W.A.T.and we have reached an agreement to renew it for a final season of 13 episodes to air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year…We are pleased that we found a way to bring it back and give closure to the show’s storylines and characters, which audiences deserve.”

After the initial cancellation, Moore took to Instagram to blast the network for the decision and called them out, noting that the cast had gotten indications from CBS even last week that the show would continue for at least one more season, making the news even more shocking.

Luckily, CBS listened to the public outcry and reversed course, giving S.W.A.T. at least one more season to say goodbye
