‘SEAL Team’: Will Max Thieriot Appear in the Final Season?
With Max Thieriot as the star, creator, executive producer, and occasional director of CBS’ Fire Country (currently airing its second season and renewed for a third), he’s been busy. But with SEAL Team, in which he played Clay Spenser for six seasons until his character was unceremoniously killed off (due to scheduling conflicts with Fire Country), ending with its upcoming seventh and final season, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll see Clay again, in some form of flashback (or really, whatever the writers come up with).

“I would love to go there and do it, but I think they’re preparing to shoot the rest of the season right now, and I know they’re going to Colombia,” Thieriot told TV Insider. “So as far as I know, unfortunately there are no plans for that, unless they call me at the last minute.”

When we spoke to showrunner Spencer Hudnut after the season 6 finale in November 2022, he wasn’t sure if it would be possible to bring Thieriot back for a flashback.

“We’ve done things like that in the past. I just think part of the decision was that it was a struggle to finish Max’s work this season. The idea of ​​being able to plan ahead and figure that out seems daunting, but we would never turn anything down,” he explained at the time. “Clay’s legacy will live on in the show. And yes, if there’s an opportunity for us to do something like that, I would be all for it because he’s such a big part of the show.”

Clay’s journey in Thieriot’s final season on SEAL Team is a difficult one. First, the injuries he suffered in the ambush in the Season 5 finale left doctors with no choice but to amputate his leg. Then, just as he found a new purpose, stepping away from the team, helping out at Ray’s (Neil Brown Jr.) veterinary clinic and convincing a veteran not to break into an Air Force recruiting center and commit suicide, Clay was the one holding the gun when a security guard showed up—and the one who was shot in the chest and killed.
