David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is a man at the end of his tether in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, as recent events take their toll and make him lose control in a massive way.

On Christmas Day dodgy police office Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) dropped the bombshell on David that he was Shona (Julia Goulding)’s one night stand.

Having just said goodbye to his mum Gail (Helen Worth) as she headed for her new life in France, David was left devastated and alone as he absorbed the full force of Shona’s betrayal.

It wasn’t long before he was out for revenge. As Jack P Shepherd told us, ‘David always sort of cracks under pressure, doesn’t he? It looks like he’s got it all together then he kind of does something extreme, like he’ll run someone over. Or he’ll try and poison someone or something. He’ll always try and do something a bit extreme.’

Aiming his car at Kit and stamping on the accelerator, David could have finished off his nemesis before the year was over but instead slammed on the brakes at the last minute, leaving Kit shocked and furious with him. Their row was stopped by Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who reminded Kit that David was a good friend to his brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

But Kit is not the most forgiving type, either, and when he realised that David was trying to get revenge another way by tricking him into confessing to framing Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton)’s disappearance, Kit broke the windscreen of his own car and arrested David for criminal damage.

Then he took even more shocking action by setting up Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge) to go after David.

Jack reflected that David wouldn’t back down from this conflict and would be determined to get revenge on Kit.

‘I think he’ll react in a way where he’ll have to try and get his own back somehow,’ he said.

‘And he’ll have to try and do it in a clever way. With Kit being six foot taller than David, he won’t be able to take him on physically. It’ll have to be something sort of mentally. He’ll do something to f*ck his life up somehow. That’s what he’ll do.’

That sort of revenge takes some cool planning, but in the short term David is incandescent with fury and his impulse is just to harm Kit in any way he can.

In upcoming episodes Sarah (Tina O’Brien) overhears a phone conversation between Kit and Shona. Shona is informing the police officer that Matty and Logan are in Freshco car park and Kit tells her to leave as quickly as possible.

Sarah reports this to David, who gets the wrong end of the stick. He grabs Sarah’s car key, jumps in the car and heads off to find Kit and Shona, determined this time to make Kit pay for what he’s done…
