And just like that, Mark’s free and mostly clear on Days of Our Lives, released into the world for now with a slap on the wrist (give or take 18 months to be served… sometime) thanks to Belle taking EJ down a peg or two. And that’s all well and good, but it’s just about impossible to ignore the sparks that were flying between the two lawyers in between the insults and jabs. And that thoughtful little smile on EJ’s face when Belle told him she and Shawn were divorced said it all: “EJelle” is on its way!

We know the two are at the very least going to hop into bed together thanks to the season preview trailer. That antagonism we watched already had plenty of sexual tension to it — helped along, we’re sure, by the fact that they’ve already hopped into bed before!

Back during their last go-around before Belle put an end to things to reconcile with Shawn and keep from antagonizing her sister, Martha Madison told Soaps.com that “there’s always potential” for her character to get serious about EJ.

We know Sami’s heading back to Salem at some point in the coming year for a storyline that shocked even Sweeney, so who knows? Maybe she’ll attend and/or try to sabotage a wedding while she’s at it! We’re sure she wouldn’t be alone in her ire, as both “EJami” and “EJole” fans will likely be bristling at the thought of Belle and EJ being the pairing that actually works out. And that’s kind of fine, Madison

“If you’re having a passionate reaction,” she shared, “that’s what we want, whether it’s this or that, it doesn’t really matter. The fact that you’re feeling something — that’s the point of daytime, right?”
