Eden McCoy, known for her role as Josslyn on General Hospital, recently opened up about the emotional toll that her
recent performances have taken on her, revealing that her personal grief has deeply impacted her portrayal of her character’s sorrow.
In recent episodes, General Hospital viewers have witnessed Josslyn navigating immense loss, with both the deaths of
Dex and Michael weighing heavily on her. However, the actress behind Josslyn, Eden McCoy, faced her own heartbreaking loss just months ago when her mother, Natasha, passed away in November 2023.

Although McCoy didn’t want her personal grief to influence her professional life, she found that her own emotions were so raw that they inevitably crept into her work. Reflecting on how her real-life grief mirrored the tragic events unfolding on screen, McCoy shared with Soap Opera Digest that filming during this difficult period felt particularly overwhelming. “There were so many weird coincidences and back-to-back moments between my life and Josslyn’s life at the same time that I found extremely anxiety-ridden and overwhelming,” McCoy admitted. Despite the intense emotional strain, she also found the experience to be “really beautiful,” as she could channel her own pain into her portrayal of Josslyn’s sorrow.
McCoy confessed that during this time, she often felt like she couldn’t escape the grief. After long days on set, where she had to embody her character’s anguish over Dex’s tragic death and Michael’s fight for survival, she would return home only to face her personal sadness again. “I was already a mess personally, and I was getting called in to work to grieve,” McCoy explained. “I was like, ‘I can’t escape it on either side of my life!’”
The actress described this period as a “very, very dark few weeks,” acknowledging how difficult it was to film such emotionally taxing scenes while dealing with her own grief. “It was horrendous to film; I did not have a blast filming all of this,” she admitted. However, McCoy’s strength and dedication as a professional have not gone unnoticed, as her performances have continued to resonate with fans, demonstrating the deep emotional connection she has to her role.
Her portrayal of Josslyn’s grief has been so powerful that it’s difficult for viewers to distinguish where McCoy ends and her character begins. It’s clear that McCoy’s raw emotion has given her performances a depth that has captured the audience’s attention and sympathy. Even though the filming process was incredibly challenging, McCoy’s resilience shines through, making her one of the standout performers on General Hospital.
