Emmerdale looks set to solve one mystery and kick off another, as confirmed in my new spoiler pictures, as one character’s secret is at long last revealed while another is left for dead, with one resident in the frame.
The former situation I am referring to is that of Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and the reason for his mysterious suitcase, with viewers having been kept in the dark about what’s wrong with the schemer and what exactly is in the case in question.
There does appear to be some sort of health issue, one which he’s doing his best to manage, but having an affair with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) has preoccupied his time as of late.
However, in the wake of both Dr Crowley’s advice and Kim Tate’s (Claire King) direct orders, Joe decides to keep Dawn at arm’s length next week – from both himself and his mystery suitcase.
Once she gets the message and leaves him alone, Joe goes to the suitcase, where it’s finally revealed what is in side.
Later, looking worse than ever, Joe receives a visit from Crowley. But will they manage to take the next step before it’s too late?
Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), meanwhile, steels herself to pay the blackmailer but she’s taken aback when Joe arrives, berating him for his cruelty.
Joe asserts that he is not to blame – but he offers her a way out by giving her the money to pay off the blackmailer. Will Manpreet find answers? And does Joe have an ulterior motive?

That remains to be seen. Elsewhere, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is determined to win Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) over and thus he throws her and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) an engagement party.
Chas is overwhelmed but her happiness soon turns to frustration when Ella Forster (Paula Lane) gatecrashes.
Later in the week, Chas is found unconscious by John. Just what has unfolded and is Ella to blame? The villagers certainly reckon so.
