1. Flynn makes big plans

Flynn arrives in Holby for his first shift as the new clinical lead, but he is shocked by the chaos of the ED. He observes ambulance queues, busy corridors and IT issues, and isn’t pleased to realise that this is considered a normal day. Flynn’s day gets worse when he discovers that a smart screen he was promised in reception hasn’t yet been installed.
He holds a staff meeting and sets out his plans to improve the ED, making it clear that he isn’t afraid to upset other parts of the hospital along the way. While most of the team are sceptical, Tariq is excited about the new boss’s vision.
2. Stevie is in denial

Stevie comes clean to Faith, explaining that she is 12 weeks pregnant with Rich’s baby. She admits that she hasn’t yet been for a scan, as she knows that this will make the whole situation real, and she is in denial about her surprise pregnancy.
When Faith later points out that Stevie is burying her head in the sand, she admits that she doesn’t think she wants a child – with the fact that Rich is the father making things even more complicated. What will Stevie decide to do about this big life change?

Ngozi suffers a major blow when she is told that there is a carbon monoxide leak in her apartment, and she can no longer live there. She is stressed that this could affect her son Obi’s visa ahead of his visit, and Dylan notices that she is struggling.
Having previously seen Ngozi turn up to an AA meeting in the hospital, Dylan offers his support, making it clear that he will likely understand what she is going through. Ngozi realises what he is saying, but will she accept Dylan’s help?
4. Russell issues a threat

While Tariq enjoys the big changes in the ED, Flynn’s new system isn’t popular and there are complaints about patients being sent to wards upstairs without a guaranteed bed. Russell pulls his son-in-law aside, warning him about making enemies and reminding him that he put his reputation on the line backing him for the clinical lead job.
With Russell aware that Flynn was having an affair and cheating on his daughter, will his threat give the new boss second thoughts?
5. Indie finds an ally

Indie still doesn’t have a place to live, and Iain is surprised to find her sleeping in the back of an ambulance truck. She lies to him about what she was doing there, with her homelessness remaining a secret for now.
She later forms a bond with a patient called Gloria and gains her trust by talking about her life, explaining that she can’t afford the rent anywhere as a student. But is Gloria able to give Indie a helping hand?
