EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy says ‘it’s hard’ as she opens up on family ‘guilt’

Natalie Cassidy has opened up about the necessity of seizing money-making “opportunities”, despite feeling a sense of guilt over her family commitments.

In a recent interview, the EastEnders star, famed for her portrayal of Sonia Fowler in the London-set soap, confessed to feeling “guilty” about not being able to devote more time to her home life

Earlier this year, she announced her departure from the beloved show to explore what she termed as “pastures new” after playing the character for over three decades.

When asked how she juggles her personal life with her professional obligations, Natalie, who resides in Hertfordshire with her fiance, Marc Humphreys, and their two daughters, Eliza and Joanie, stressed the importance of grabbing “opportunities”.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Natalie said: “It’s hard. You feel guilty about not spending more time at home, but you need to take the opportunities when they come along to earn money.”

The 41-year-old actress further added: “You have to accept that not every bit of your life can be perfect all the time. Any time I do have off, I’m at home with Marc and the kids.”

Expanding on her hectic lifestyle, Natalie revealed that she maintains a “handful of friends”, whom she considers “real friends” who won’t “get grumpy and make comments” when she hasn’t been available for some time.

Besides her stint on EastEnders, Natalie also featured on the BBC comedy Mandy in 2020 as Donna Bell and has previously appeared on ITV’s Loose Women as a guest panellist.

What’s The Big Deal? is designed to prevent these purchases and make people think a bit harder before they buy in a cost of living crisis, and when it’s so easy to click and buy these days, we think it’s an important programme.”

During a past interview with Bella magazine, she shared that presenting came “quite naturally” to her and expressed her desire to keep at it in the times ahead. The Mirror reports that this sort of job might better accommodate Natalie’s family obligations compared to her role on EastEnders.
