The net closes in on Emmerdale‘s Charity Dingle next week – when Ross Barton demands to know once and for all if he could be the father of the baby she is carrying.
When Charity confirmed she was pregnant, everyone assumed her efforts to be a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden had been successful.

Little do they know, Charity secretly slept with old flame Ross around the time of the embryo transfer – so the bun in the oven could be a Barton…
In new scenes, Ross mulls over the realisation that the pregnancy has become the final straw for Mackenzie Boyd, who has declared that his marriage to Charity is over. This makes Ross wonder if her hubby knew about their indiscretion.
Ross overhears Sarah telling Vanessa Woodfield it’s all over for Mack and Charity. He therefore decides to confront his fling.

Looking Charity in the eye, he asks if Mack walked out because he found out about their night together – and whether their son, Moses, could soon be getting a little brother or sister.
Having sent inquisitive Ross packing, Charity needs a shoulder to cry on. She turns to Vanessa, and finally admits that her pregnancy is not as straightforward as it would seem.
Tearfully breaking down, Charity confides in Vanessa that there’s a possibility the baby might not be Sarah and Jacob’s.
Opening up to Vanessa takes some of the burden off deceitful Charity, but she doesn’t reveal the full story. When Vanessa assumes the child could be Mack’s, Charity fails to correct her that it’s actually Ross who is the likely father.

The strain of the surrogacy idea meant there wasn’t much happening in the bedroom department between Charity and Mack recently, but she’s not going to tell Vanessa that.
Despite not being completely in the picture, Vanessa urges Charity to come clean to Sarah about her paternity doubts. But Charity remains in a state of denial, hoping that her baby wasn’t conceived in a boozy bunk-up.
Ross, however, still smells a rat and challenges Charity. When she says she’s had tests that categorically prove he’s not the father, he’s not sure what to believe – especially when she refuses to share the results.
How long can Charity throw Ross off the scent for, all while keeping Sarah in the dark?
