Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) is set to resort to desperate measures in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as he continues trying to evade police.
The convicted murderer escaped prison after agreeing to donate a kidney to sister Carla Connor (Alison King) earlier this year.
Having done a runner from the hospital, Rob has been in hiding ever since, though next week he chances a visit back to his old stomping ground to request help from Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
Tracy and Rob have a deep history, having fallen in love prior to Rob’s prison time.
The pair even planned to get married, but their big day was ruined when Carla reported Rob for the murder of Tina McIntyre, after he confessed to her at his stag do.
In upcoming scenes, Tracy is left stunned when she runs into Rob again, as actress Kate Ford revealed.‘She can’t believe it, but at the same time she’s still got a bit of a soft spot for him, so she does let him come into the house without much persuasion.’She added: ‘She doesn’t want to get involved in it, but she just feels bad that she’s not helping him because at a time they were in love.
‘I don’t think she feels like that for him anymore but she acknowledges that he came back for her when he burst into the courtroom. She feels she owes him this but she says one night then you have to leave.’
As their time together drags on, things become slightly more alarming for Tracy, as Kate revealed.
‘As things escalate she suddenly realises this is quite serious. She doesn’t think he’d ever hurt her really but there’s always that level of doubt so there is a little bit of fear.’
It isn’t just what Rob may be capable of that frightens her though, as she also has a lot to lose herself.
‘She says to him so many times, I’m not going back to prison for you, you’ve got to leave,’ Kate explained. ‘Then the more he resists, the more panicky she starts to get about being caught out rather than being afraid of him.’
However, Tracy is hit by a total curveball when Rob shocks her by asking her to go on the run with him.
‘She can’t believe what he’s talking about, she just thinks it’s crazy. He’s got a gaping hole in the side of his body and some sort of infection and she just thinks he’s lost his mind.‘He needs to get to the hospital, he’s not talking sense. I think it would take a lot to persuade her at this point.’Will Rob manage to convince Tracy to run away with him, or could his time as a free man soon be up?
