Coronation Street legend Bill Roache has reassured fans that he has no plans to leave the iconic ITV soap, putting an end to any speculation about his future. Roache, who has portrayed Ken Barlow since the show’s very first episode in 1960, confirmed his commitment to Weatherfield while attending the prestigious Entertainment Agents Awards.

As the last remaining original cast member, Roache was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event, a moment made even more special by his co-star Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassie Plummer, presenting him with the accolade. Expressing his gratitude, Roache shared his deep appreciation for the recognition, calling it an “incredible honor” and reflecting on his remarkable six-decade-long journey on Coronation Street.

Speaking about his career, Roache described his time on the soap as “magical” and credited the talented actors he’s worked alongside for making the experience truly special. He assured fans that he is looking forward to many more years in Weatherfield, confirming that he has no intention of stepping away from the beloved role of Ken Barlow.

Sweeney, who has been involved in a dramatic storyline with Roache’s character, praised his professionalism and dedication to the craft. She called him a “true legend” and emphasized how sharp and committed he remains after all these years.

Meanwhile, on-screen, Cassie Plummer’s shocking manipulation of Ken Barlow has taken a dramatic turn. Having secretly poisoned Ken and stolen from him, Cassie faced the consequences of her deception. However, after a series of intense confrontations, she has since attempted to make amends with Ken, as well as with Tyrone and Fizz.
