Emily Symons, famed for her role as Marilyn Chambers on Home and Away, has proven that time has done nothing to diminish her allure. At 55, Symons looked as youthful and radiant as ever when she graced the red carpet at the 64th TV Week Logie Awards in Sydney on August 18, 2024. Dressed in a sheer black lace gown with a daring thigh-high split, she turned heads and showcased her timeless beauty.
Symons first appeared on Home and Away in 1989, where she made a lasting impact over a decade before branching out into other acting roles. Her career highlights include a notable stint on Emmerdale, where she played Louise Appleton. Despite leaving Home and Away for a time, she made a triumphant return to her iconic role in 2010. In addition to her soap opera success, Symons participated in Dancing on Ice in 2007, though her journey was cut short in the semi-finals following a skate-off against Duncan James.

After years spent in the UK and her role on Emmerdale, Symons relocated back to Australia to rejoin Home and Away, where she has remained ever since. Off-screen, her personal life has seen its share of highs and lows. Symons was first married to drummer Nick Lipskin, whom she met in London in the early ’90s. Reflecting on their marriage, Symons admitted to the Mirror in 2002 that her early marriage felt like the pinnacle of her life at the time.
Her second marriage was to Lorenzo Smith, the son of Viscount Hamilton and a descendant of English stationary magnate WH Smith. They married in 2003 in Henley-on-Thames and enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in Positano. However, their marriage lasted only two years, with their relationship ultimately strained by the challenges of IVF treatments. Symons shared with the Sunday Mirror in 2007 that the stress of these treatments had a severe impact on their marriage, leading to their separation in June 2005.
Before her marriage to Smith, Symons was engaged to Premier League footballer Matt Le Tissier, whom she met while performing in a pantomime of Goldilocks in Southampton. They became engaged within six months but broke up before the wedding could take place.
In addition to her acting career, Symons had a brief romance with her Emmerdale co-star Matthew King, which lasted for 15 months and included a duet on Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes. Their relationship ended shortly before Symons’ appearance on Dancing on Ice.
Symons eventually found love again with Paul Jackson, the programming director at NOA Entertainment Group. The couple began their relationship in 2010 and welcomed their son, Henry, via IVF in 2015. Symons opened up to New Idea about her experience with IVF, expressing her initial doubts about her ability to conceive and offering encouragement to others facing similar challenges. Sadly, Symons and Jackson parted ways about a year after Henry’s birth.
Despite the personal ups and downs, Emily Symons continues to captivate audiences with her enduring charm and elegance.
