Emmerdale viewers said “spoiler alert” in response to a behind-the-scenes snap that revealed a comeback was on the cards for a character.

While an exit was never really confirmed, several viewers were under the impression that the character in question had exited the village for good. They were forced out of the village by another character after their dark secret came to light, and they have not been back since.

There have been no details or spoilers since the episodes aired that confirm whether the character is coming back soon, and what brings them back. As far as fans were concerned, the newcomer had simply left – but now the truth has been revealed.

Actress Paula Lane debuted earlier this year as newcomer Ella Forster. For months we did not know what she was hiding, until recently villagers found out she was using a false name, after killing a childhood friend when she was aged 11.

While on the show, actress Paula formed a close bond with Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley, with them often sharing behind-the-scenes snaps of each other in-between takes. That hasn’t stopped since Ella’s ‘exit’, and now a new snap shared by both stars has confirmed Ella will be back sooner than you think.

On Thursday 27 June, Paula shared a sweet snap of her and Lisa together on set confirming she was filming that day. Lisa shared the same snap on X, commenting on them filming together.

Paula also shared a snap of her chilling in the sunshine with the caption “in between takes”. This once again confirmed she was back filming as Ella, with scenes expected to air in the coming weeks.

The posts were not the first time Paula confirmed her return, having previously said she would be filming again soon. Lisa had also shared a sweet snap of them last month, hinting there was more of Ella to come.

But despite the soap never actually confirming an exit for Ella and Paula not bowing out of the show, some fans seemed surprised to see the snaps, under the impression Ella was gone for good. As many viewers commented how excited they were to see Ella back in the village, some fans were asking if a spoiler has been leaked.

Taking to social media, one fan posted: “Oh is she coming back?” as another said: “Lisa are you allowed to do this as we all think Paula has left the village, spoiler Alerts xx.” A third fan said: “Glad to see you’re coming back to the village!!!” as a fourth wrote: “Glad to see your still in the show.”
