Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) made a final heartbreaking request of sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) in recent Coronation Street scenes, as the family struggle through the reality of Julie’s illness.
After returning to the cobbles last month, Julie dropped the bombshell that she had been diagnosed with stage four sarcoma and only had a few months to live.
The news hit Eileen particularly hard, and in tonight’s episode things got too much for her when Julie revealed that she wanted to discuss her funeral plans.
Having been dragged to the Rovers alongside Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), Eileen was blindsided by the topic of conversation, and tried everything she could to change the subject.
With Julie determined to have the discussion, Eileen ended up making excuses and fleeing the pub.

This left poor Julie concerned, and Todd annoyed.
Returning home, Todd questioned what Eileen was playing at, and it became clear that she was struggling to come to terms with the idea of losing her sister.
Sympathetic, Todd encouraged Eileen to talk to Julie, and as she arrived home, Eileen took his advice.

Over a meal, Eileen apologised for being ‘a rubbish sister’, while Julie apologised for not telling her the truth sooner.
Sensing how much it had upset her, Julie promised to only discuss funeral arrangements with Todd and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) from now on, but revealed that there was something Eileen could do for her.
She revealed how she wanted to make the most of every day she had left, and asked Eileen to do plenty of fun things with her.
Of course, Eileen was quick to agree.
