Get involved, Canadian SEAL Team fans. Season 5 is ready and underway
The SEAL team eventually fought their way back north of the border.
The series, starring David Boreanaz as US Navy SEAL Master Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes, fell off Canada’s radar after a few episodes aired early in the season. this Thursday.
Reason? ViacomCBS moved the series off the main broadcast network after four episodes this fall and onto its Paramount+ streaming service. That move, which appears to be late in the planning, was not anticipated by the Canadian division of Paramount+. The budget had to be adjusted. ‘Nuff said.
Meanwhile, Global’s simulcast agreement only takes effect when new episodes of the series air on CBS.
The war broke out as Canadian fans were confused by an American report that the show would move to Paramount+. Friends I know have subscribed to streaming services for the sole reason of keeping up with their weekly fix of over-the-top fighting movies. Instead, they are trapped in a pit of despair.
The good news is that after about three months of waiting, during which even last season’s episodes failed to work on streaming devices, Canadians can now watch all episodes of SEAL Team Season 5 on Paramount + Canada.
The show even boasts a Canadian or two in the cast, including Montreal native Jessica Pare as Amanda “Mandy” Ellis, Bravo Team’s CIA interrogator. A.J. Buckley, who grew up in White Rock, BC, plays Navy SEAL Sonny Quinn. Fall into!
