CASUALTY have signed up a Sexy Beast and Pennyworth star ahead of its new series this weekend.

The hit BBC One medical drama will finally returns to screens following months off air.

Fans were treated to a festive special of Casualty but the last series ended in September with a double bill.

But when the show returns this Saturday night, Holby City Hospital will welcome a new student paramedic.

Sexy Beast star Naomi Wakszlak will play the role of Indie Jankowski.

While she’s very much a junior, Indie is a force to be reckoned with and won’t be shy about making her mark.

Speaking about joining Casualty, Naomi said: “It’s a huge honour to work on BBC’s Casualty and join the incredible cast and crew here in making one of the UK’s best-loved series.

“I hope you’ll all love Indie as much as I do!”

Meanwhile, Roxane Harvey, Casualty’s executive producer said: “Naomi is an emerging talent who brings depth and authenticity to the role, seamlessly capturing Indie’s determination and drive to prove herself in a demanding environment.

“As Indie navigates her professional journey, viewers will witness her growth as a paramedic and the relationships she forms with colleagues, her boss Jan and patients.”

Casualty’s long-awaited new series kicks off on Saturday at 9:20pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

It comes after fans were reduced to tears as the drama’s Christmas special centred around the miracle of blood.

The episode featured real accounts from bereaved family members and those who survived thanks to blood donations.
