Why Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd could still be killed off

Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has spoken about Mackenzie Boyd’s shocking storyline twist for the first time – warning that his unlucky character could still be killed off.

Mack made a surprise return to our screens last week, as Friday’s episode revealed that dangerous John Sugden is holding him captive in an underground bunker.

John had seemingly killed Mack during a terrifying woodland showdown a few days earlier.

Viewers now know that the villain actually spared Mack’s life, but is keeping him out of sight to protect his own dark secrets.

Speaking for the first time since the on-screen revelations, Lawrence warned that Mack “isn’t quite dead (yet)” – acknowledging the danger that he’s still in.

“I’m glad the secret that Mack isn’t quite dead (yet) is over,” he laughed.

“I have felt slightly deceitful over the last two weeks when people have asked me about his death.

“Whilst I have enjoyed being somewhat of an enigma over that time, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the drama we shot is received on screen.”

He added: “Both Ollie [Farnworth, who plays John] and I really enjoyed shooting it, so hopefully the jeopardy of Mack’s position will keep the audience gripped!”

Mack’s estranged wife Charity Dingle believes that he’s away in London following a bitter argument over her surrogacy arrangement with granddaughter Sarah Sugden.

This has bought John some time, as Mack’s disappearance hasn’t aroused any suspicion so far.

Tonight’s episode sees Mack decide that the best way out of his predicament is to pretend that he’s on John’s side, but can this bold plan really pay off?

All will be revealed in tonight’s episode, which is streaming early now on ITVX and YouTube.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
